Encorp’s Stewardship Plan Performance Targets 2018 - 2022 Consultation - May 30, 2018

Encorp Pacific (Canada) is the not-for-profit stewardship agency appointed by producers of packaged ready-to-drink beverages to fulfill their obligations under the Recycling Regulation, Schedule 1, Beverage Container Product Category (BC Reg. 449/2004). The stewardship plan covers all the regulated containers for ready-to-drink beverages sold in British Columbia, except refillable beer bottles and beer aluminum cans. This includes soft drinks, juice, water, wine, coolers and spirits among other drink categories.

The BC Ministry of Environment approved Encorp’s first five-year stewardship plan in 2007. Our second plan, covering 2013 - 2017, was approved in 2014. In 2017 Encorp applied to the Director and was approved to continue operating under the current plan with no changes except to update program performance targets and to address certain policy items that have been introduced since the approval of the current plan.

The 2018 - 2022 program targets are presented in the attached document and can also be found on our website. Input can be submitted at any time during the consultation period May 8 – June 22, 2018 through our online web app. In addition we will hold a public meeting on May 30, 2018 at RCBC 2018 in Alpine Boardroom A from 10-11 a.m.

Recycle BC Cost Study and Consultation Results

Prior to the RCBC Conference, Recycle BC will be hosting a session for interested stakeholders further to our consultation process.

In this session, Recycle BC will be presenting the results from our 5-year Cost Study refresh conducted in Q1 2018. This study, which compares costs from a group of collectors in 2013 and again in 2018, will be used to help inform collection incentive rates in conjunction with feedback on rates received to date from our November consultation.

In addition, we will be sharing updates from the Recycle BC Consultation hosted last fall as we continue to receive feedback and develop our collection services agreements in preparation for release this summer.

Join us: Wednesday, May 30, 2019 from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
Location: Westin Resort and Spa, Alpine BC Room, Whistler BC

We are exploring the possibility of webcasting this session and will send out a follow up notice if we are able to accommodate a webcast for those not in attendance at the conference.
