Encorp’s Stewardship Plan Performance Targets 2018 - 2022 Consultation - May 30, 2018
Encorp Pacific (Canada) is the not-for-profit stewardship agency appointed by producers of packaged ready-to-drink beverages to fulfill their obligations under the Recycling Regulation, Schedule 1, Beverage Container Product Category (BC Reg. 449/2004). The stewardship plan covers all the regulated containers for ready-to-drink beverages sold in British Columbia, except refillable beer bottles and beer aluminum cans. This includes soft drinks, juice, water, wine, coolers and spirits among other drink categories. The BC Ministry of Environment approved Encorp’s first five-year stewardship plan in 2007. Our second plan, covering 2013 - 2017, was approved in 2014. In 2017 Encorp applied to the Director and was approved to continue operating under the current plan with no changes except to update program performance targets and to address certain policy items that have been introduced since the approval of the current plan. The 2018 - 2022 program targets are presented in the attached document and can also be found on our website. Input can be submitted at any time during the consultation period May 8 – June 22, 2018 through our online web app. In addition we will hold a public meeting on May 30, 2018 at RCBC 2018 in Alpine Boardroom A from 10-11 a.m. Visit www.returnit.ca/consultation2018 for more details, downloadable documents and webinar registration. Recycle BC Cost Study and Consultation Results Prior to the RCBC Conference, Recycle BC will be hosting a session for interested stakeholders further to our consultation process. In this session, Recycle BC will be presenting the results from our 5-year Cost Study refresh conducted in Q1 2018. This study, which compares costs from a group of collectors in 2013 and again in 2018, will be used to help inform collection incentive rates in conjunction with feedback on rates received to date from our November consultation. In addition, we will be sharing updates from the Recycle BC Consultation hosted last fall as we continue to receive feedback and develop our collection services agreements in preparation for release this summer. Join us: Wednesday, May 30, 2019 from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Location: Westin Resort and Spa, Alpine BC Room, Whistler BC Click here to register We are exploring the possibility of webcasting this session and will send out a follow up notice if we are able to accommodate a webcast for those not in attendance at the conference. Cascades Recovery+, a division of Cascades Canada ULC, announced today the launch of its newly revamped website; cascadesrecovery.com.
Feel the ultimate user-friendly experience from the new website. Functionality is improved through its clean design and the enhanced rich content focuses solely on the Company’s mission to increase diversion, reduce waste costs and support Its partners on the road to zero waste and the creation of a Circular Economy. "We are excited about our new website launch and the robust information it provides for customers, partners and media to better understand the C.A.R.M.A. process and what the Recovery …PLUS® solution is all about; unlike waste companies, we focus our efforts on resource recovery.” said Simon Ozorio – Marketing manager. "We believe that this new site will allow visitors to have a very informative journey as we continue to grow and increase our market presence." Cascades Recovery+ new website will be updated on a regular basis with news of business activities, recycling technology and industry trend. Visitors are encouraged to explore the website and sign up for direct emails from the Company at http://www.cascadesrecovery.com/en/contact-us. Winston Churchill once said, “Never let a good crisis go to waste”. Now that the China SWORD policy has disrupted world recyclable markets, can Churchill’s opportunistic principle apply to today’s crisis over waste? We’re going to explore that possibility at #RCBC2018 by asking some pointed questions during our first session: Re-Visioning Canada’s Recycling Industries. We’ll start by asking the following:
Our panel of industry leaders, Peter Holgate, Al Metauro, and Joe Hruska, will start off with an optimistic yet pragmatic blue horizon vision for their respective sectors. They’ll engage delegates to explore what opportunities might exist, what could be achieved, and what may still lay beyond our reach. Over the course of the conference, we’ll encourage further dialogue and ask delegates to share their thoughts through our interactive conference app. Meanwhile, BCIT Business Leadership student Eszter Laszlo will engage people in casual discussions over the three-days, then share some of the best ideas in the final session to wrap things up. You can still register to participate in Rethink: A World Without Waste, happening May 30 to June 1 at the Whistler Westin. Don’t miss this opportunity to help determine Canada’s sustainable future. For registration and details, follow this link at https://www.rcbc.ca/events/annual-conference. I hope to see you in Whistler this May. Brock Macdonald
