​We are pleased to announce the program for the 42nd Annual RCBC Conference: Inspiring Circular Innovation – How to Get to a Zero Waste Planet: Plan-It!. This year will feature 9 Plenary Sessions and Elizabeth May as our Closing Keynote Speaker. 

Program Highlights 
Day 1 Highlights
  • Opening Plenary on Provincial Matters featuring BC Ministry of Environment EPR Updates and Reviews. Plus, get an Overview of Ontario's Bill 151
  • Communication, Outreach, Campaigns Plenary featuring presentations from the Capital Regional District, Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society, Canadian Plastics Industry Association, and from the BC Recycles Ambassador Program
Day 2 Highlights
  • The first of two morning plenaries will focus on Organics featuring presentations on the Food Waste Prevention Toolkit from the BC Ministry of Environment, Overview of the Potato House Project, and Implementation of Organics Separation in Multi-Family Buildings by Nancy Balcom. 
  • The second Organics Plenary features presentations on Organic Waste Management in a Regenerative Economy by Transform Compost Systems, Keeping the Value of Organics  by Bokashi Living, and Waste Management and Circular Economy by Net Zero Waste & Sea to Sky Soils. 
  • The RCBC Environmental Awards will be presented during the Thursday Luncheon. 
  • After lunch, there is a Special Plenary on Carbon Cap & Trade by Usman Valiante and Hadi Dowlatabadi from UBC.  
  • The Circular Innovation Plenaries will feature presentations on app technologies from Stuffstr and ReTrac, Boat Sharing from Boatwyze, and Circular Economy presentations from Shaw Industries, Enerkem, Dillon Consulting, and Lush Handmade Cosmetics. 
  • To close out the day will be the Gala Reception and Dinner. 
Day 3 Highlights
  • First session of the day will feature an BC Ministry of Environment Consultation on Solid Waste Management Guidelines and a Municipal Solid Waste Study Update.  RCBC will be hosting a Roundtable on Developing a Provincial Approach to Illegal Dumping. 
  • The closing plenary will be on Local Government Planning and Action featuring presentations on Solid Waste Management Planning for First Nations by the Fraser Valley RD,  Construction and Demolition Waste by the Capital RD, and Single Family Home Demolition By-Law by the City of Richmond.
  • The closing keynote sessions features Federal Green MP Elizabeth May.
