 Call for Presentations for #RCBC2020 

Deadline for Submissions is Feb 28, 2020
RCBC invites academics and professionals to share their knowledge and expertise in recycling, waste prevention, waste management, organics management, environmental sciences, municipal planning, extended producer responsibility and sustainable economics at RCBC’s 46th Annual Conference from June 10-12, 2020 at the Westin Whistler in Whistler, B.C.  

Share your ideas, innovations and knowledge as one of the leaders in the wholesale system change from antiquated practices of managing waste, to a future optimizing the resources within a sustainable economy.  ​

We are looking for presentations in the following areas:
  • Reuse
  • Repair, refurbishing, remanufacturing
  • Materials recovery, recycling, and processing
  • End-of-lifecycle management
  • 25 years of EPR in BC and potential next BC Recycling Reg. products
  • Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) waste diversion, management and resource recovery
  • Mixed-waste MRF operations and best practices
  • Organics waste best practices
  • Illegal dumping and abandonment issues, prevention, mitigation, research, and enforcement
  • Public awareness, communications, education and engagement
  • Advanced and innovative waste management, processing, and treatment technologies
  • Regional economic growth through product development ideas based on feedstock from collected stewardship materials and products
  • Chemical, household-hazardous, medical and special wastes
  • Construction, demolition and renovation waste prevention strategies and sustainable business ideas based on recovered materials
  • Industrial design that incorporates waste minimization and prevention

Selection of presentations is based on the following criteria:
1. Does the presentation reflect real-world examples, progressive policy, and/or academic theory?
2. Is the presentation cutting-edge, innovative, fresh and relevant?
3. Will it strengthen the skills and knowledge of recycling and waste management professionals and businesses?
4. Will this proposal provide an engaging 10 to 20 minute presentation?   
Please note that presentations simply promoting products, companies or individuals will not be considered. 

How to Submit
Not with a PDF please. Please submit presentation abstracts, including a working title, as a less than one-page synopsis in Word format - not PDF, to RCBC by Friday Feb. 28, 2020, via email to RCBC CEO Brock Macdonald at brock@rcbc.ca.

Conference Background
The Annual RCBC conference is attended by approximately 250 industry professionals. The three-day event features keynote speakers, presentations, workshops, and exhibits, as well as a Gala Dinner, entertainment and the annual RCBC awards presentation.

Why Present?
By presenting, you help raise the level of professionalism in the field and promote good practices to ensure a better future by sharing your expertise. You also enhance your reputation, make new contacts, gain recognition in your field and add to the body of knowledge to prevent and manage waste and promote recycling. One speaker per presentation is provided with complimentary registration for the full conference.

Please note that the Westin Resort & Spa will extend the special room rates for three days prior and the three proceeding the conference dates. Please come and plan to participate and enjoy one of North America’s premiere vacation resorts.
